Before we dive into that, though, let’s talk about why Health Coaching is one of the fastest-growing healthcare professions right now—and will be for years to come.
Why Health Coach Jobs Are In Demand
It’s an incredibly exciting time to be a Health Coach. As a society, we’re in the midst of a massive paradigm shift when it comes to how we treat disease and how we cultivate health and wellness.
We’re starting to realize that what we’ve been doing isn’t working anymore. We’re more stressed, overweight, and unhealthy than ever before. We’re suffering from diseases—like heart disease, obesity, and diabetes—that are a result of our unhealthy lifestyles. What’s more, our healthcare system emphasizes reactive treatment rather than encouraging preventative treatment.
At Health Coach Institute, we believe the answer lies in being proactive—in making lifestyle changes that serve us for life. But making big changes can be hard because so much of our behavior is the result of habit—and habits are hard to change! That’s where Health Coaches come in.
Health Coaches help people master healthy habits and transform their lives. They provide the support and accountability people need to make lasting change and create the lives they desire.
What’s more, the Health Coaching industry is projected to see some incredible growth in the coming years.

Health Coach Careers: The Future is Bright
Now that we’ve covered some of the careers you can pursue as a Health Coach, it’s time to learn how you can set yourself up for success—no matter the path you choose!
Whether you want to start your own business or work within a company, the one thing you’ll want to make sure of is that you have proper training. At Health Coach Institute, we believe it’s important for Health Coaches to complete a credible certificate training program. While not required, doing so will provide coaches with the tools, skills, and confidence to coach clients effectively.
If you choose to seek out a job as a Health Coach within a company after getting trained, you’ll need to prepare for the job search and interview process. You can find open Health Coach positions via a variety of sources including:
- Online job sites, social media, and company websites
- Local websites and publications
- Staffing firms
- Networking events and professional organizations
After you identify the jobs you’d like to apply for, you’ll want to ensure your resume is in top shape and showcases your training and experience. Spend some time mock-interviewing so you feel prepared to answer the types of questions you may be asked, and make sure to thoroughly research the companies you’re applying to so you can ask questions that demonstrate you understand their business.
And remember—at the end of the day, you’re applying for a position as a Health Coach because you’re passionate about health and wellness and you want to help people. So don’t be afraid to tell potential employers how excited you are about the opportunity to put that passion to work!
If you choose to set up your own Health Coaching business, you’ll want to put a number of systems in place so you can build a successful online Health Coaching business.
You’ll first need to ensure you have the technology you need to become successful, like a reliable phone and internet connection, tools for meetings (like Skype, Google Hangouts, or Zoom), and a computer, phone, and printer. You’ll also need to market your business through social media, your website, and word of mouth.
